This is subtitled ‘Hot Caribbean Pepper Sauce’, but the ingredients also give you a good clue why it’s called The Yellow One – with turmeric and mustard both present.
The 150ml bottle with sealed cap contains a beautiful rich yellow sauce, you can see some seeds suspended within, and the flow around the bottle is a slow, viscous motion.
It’s a pure scotch bonnet smell once opened, and very identifiable as a Caribbean hot sauce. The chilli heat hits at once, that familiar warmth of the peppers is held longer around the mouth by a saliva-bursting saltiness. Its lovely. But there’s more… as your mouth starts to become at ease with the first round of flavours, a nip of horseradish announces itself to further enhance the taste and power of this blend.
A very enjoyable drop, and a little goes a long way due to how the sauce’s ingredients combine and linger on the taste buds.
Ingredients: scotch bonnet, onion, garlic, vinegar, turmeric, fresh horseradish, mustard, salt, sugar.
Gluten-free and suitable for vegans.
I’d use this on the side of my plate with almost any dish.
